This programme covers a breadth, depth and range of professional education for the police constable. This is a degree very much founded on effective professional performance with academic achievement. The apprenticeship covers areas that are critical to effective policing in the 21st century, such as evidence-based policing, supporting vulnerable people, dealing with cyber crime and crime prevention.

Assessment tools, which include individual and group presentations, portfolio work, case studies, reflective accounts, on-line exercises, multiple choice exams, electronic conferencing, report writing, scenario based time constrained exercises, and the production of an annotated bibliography, have all been conceived with regard held to the needs and requirements for policing in modern society. In addition to written coursework, group based assessment and presentations are utilised to enable apprentices to demonstrate their ability to work co-operatively with others to achieve a common goal.
In Year One you will spend around 25 weeks working on the degree programme on a full-time basis. Year Two and Year Three will consist of blended delivery – incorporating day/block release.

Other relevant prior experience may also be considered as an alternative. The programme welcomes applications from those with a wide variety of educational qualifications, and will consider on merit applicants with no formal qualifications.
